Pierre Jacquet has been since 2012 President of the Global Development Network (GDN), a public international organization headquartered in New Delhi (India) which builds research capacity in developing countries in order to promote development policies informed by evidence and analysis. He is the former Chief Economist (2002-2012) and Executive Director of Strategy (2002-2010) of the French Development Agency (AFD) and a former Deputy Director of the French Institute on International Relations (IFRI),an independent French think tank which he had joined in 1981. He is also a former member (1007-2006) of the French Prime Minister’s Council of Economic Adviser, and former (elected) Chairman of the OECD Development Assistance Committee Poverty Reduction subsidiary body (POVNET) on pro-poor growth, where he coordinated work programs focusing on agriculture, infrastructure, the role of the private sector, social policies and employment.
Pierre Jacquet teaches Economic Policy at the Ecole nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC), a renowned French graduate engineering school. He chaired the Department of Economic and Social Sciences and was Professor of International Economics at ENPC between 1994 and 2012. His major interests are in international economic relations and development, collective action and policymaking, the provision of global public goods, and sustainable development. He has published more than 80 articles or book chapters and 200 press columns, and co-authored the textbook Economic Policy: Theory and Practice (Oxford University Press, 2010).
