Yusuf was appointed to serve as a Commissioner by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in March 2022. Before joining NERC, Yusuf was the Special Assistant to the President on Power Regulation where he advised senior members of the Nigerian government on far-reaching power sector reforms. Prior to this, Yusuf worked in the Tony Blair Institute's Middle East practice - helping leaders in the region analyse their options on a broad array of issues. Yusuf also worked as a management consultant at the Nigerian office of McKinsey & Co. After graduating with a BEng in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Manchester, Yusuf obtained an M.Phil. in Nuclear Energy and a PhD in Energy Policy from the University of Cambridge.
