Swapneel Mehta

Swapneel Mehta is the co-founder of a nonprofit, SimPPL, rebuilding trust on the social internet in 6 countries through responsible computing tools deployed with over 20 newsrooms, CSOs, nonprofits, and the UN. He is a postdoctoral associate at Boston University and MIT conducting behavioral economics research into platform governance and free speech. He is also a co-founder at an MIT-incubated startup delivering maternal health literacy information in rural India. Dr. Mehta is a Google Research Innovator, Belfer Fellow, and recipient of prestigious grants from Google, Mozilla, and Wikimedia. He received his Ph.D. from NYU Data Science focused on causal inference and interventions, and worked at Twitter, Adobe, Slack, Oxford, acquired startups and CERN on AI products, algorithms, and applications.
