Amal Benaissa is Sustainable Finance Manager at Bank of Africa - BMCE Group, a regional leader and pioneer in sustainable and inclusive finance. Part of the Bank’s Sustainability team, Amal’s work involves developing innovative financial products, services and partnerships that yield positive environmental and/or social impacts. Amal further contributes to the implementation of the Sustainability & Climate Strategy across the Group, driven by the emergence of sustainable Impact-based financial innovations. In parallel, Amal Benaissa is particularly interested in how social enterprises can generate both financial and environmental/social returns, and she regularly connects with social entrepreneurs in Morocco. Amal is an Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leader and a lifetime member of the US-based National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Amal is also a member of the Board of the Global Clean Water Desalination Alliance. In 2017, Amal Benaissa received the Desmond Fortes Scholarship for excellence in sustainable finance awarded by FMO, the Dutch Development Bank. Growing up between Morocco and the United States, Amal pursued her higher education in Boston University (BSc 2006) and later at the London School of Economics to complete Masters and PhD (2012).
