Ahmed Rachid El-Khattabi is an urban planner and an applied environmental economist with expertise in policy-oriented quantitative research and data management. His research focuses on issues at the intersection of economic development and environmental planning, with a particular focus on urban water management. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the Office of Water and an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

El-Khattabi holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in City and Regional Planning. Originally from Morocco, he has also lived in California and Illinois, where he attended and graduated from Stanford University in 2010 and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013.
