Ms. Ruby Sandhu-Rojon has had a diverse career in the UN system for over 34 years serving in both field based and HQ .
Currently she provides leadership training through the UNSSC, mentors UN Resident Coordinators as well as supports the UN on developing the talent pipeline for the future leaders of the UN. She recently served as the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS). In this capacity, she provided overall leadership and shaping strategic thinking for UN’s engagement in the region including monitoring strategic direction. She has also served as the UNDP Deputy Assistant Administrator and Deputy Regional Director of the Regional Bureau for Africa. Prior to that She served as UN Resident Coordinator in Ghana, and was the UNDP Country Director in Burkina Faso. Earlier in her career, Ms. Sandhu-Rojon worked with both the Un Volunteers and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM ) now UN Women.
Ms Sandhu-Rojon got her MSc from the London School of Economics and her BA from Bryn Mawr College. She speaks English, French, Swahili and Punjabi.
