Holds a degree in Economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Columbia University. She worked at the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness as Director for Inclusive Society. Her research topics are competitiveness, public health, social development, environment, mobility and urban development. Fátima's leadership and tenacity have been reflected in the coordination of several competitiveness indexes, which require the majority of the institution's staff. In addition, she has promoted research on public health and well-being. Aware of the importance of effective communication, she writes a biweekly opinion columns in CNN Expansión and has collaborated in other media such as Reforma, Animal Político, Letras Libres, Revista MOI and The Guardian. Previously, she worked as an independent consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the National Institute of Ecology. She also taught basic microeconomics and environmental policy at ITAM. She is a member of the Women in Motion Mexico network.
