Christian spent 30 years in Southeast Asia working as a CEO and Group Director in the largest Indonesian conglomerate. As a keen observer of contemporary events of historical importance, he had ‘one-in-a-life-time’ chance to witness the resurgence of Asia, from the so-called Asian Tigers era to the aftermath of the 1997 financial crisis that resulted in this unprecedented economic and political dynamism across the region.
Christian completed his Master of Arts in International Relations at Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, in September 2017, as a capstone in his Asian life. His thesis dealt with China’s Foreign Policy impact on Southeast Asia (‘Old Wine’ in New Bottle: China’s Trade, Guns and Ports’ The Impact of China’s International Trade & Investment Policy on ASEAN countries’ foreign policy autonomy) under supervisor Dr. Robert L. Pfaltzgraff.
Christian holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Southern Cross University, 2003, Australia – Thesis “A Strategic Model for Global Capital Intensive Industries”), a Sloan Master of Science (London Business School, 2008, UK, Thesis ‘Industry structure Evolution: A Case study of the Ophthalmic Lens Ecosystems’) and an MBA (Edinburgh Business School, UK, 1998). Currently a Doctoral researcher at SOAS, London; under Dr. Tat Yan Kong and Dr. Michael Buehler, Christian is working on unpacking hedging strategies and domestic factors in Maritime Southeast Asia.
