Policy Responses and Regional Cooperation to Address Irregular Migration in Morocco and the Mediterranean

Iván Martín, Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South will participate in the Mediterranean Dialogue Conference on Informal Migration in Morocco organized by the Mediterranean Dialogue initiative, Association Marocaine de Solidarité et Développement, Association Eden Maroc and SFL Morocco. He will intervene during the Panel 2 titled “Policy Responses and Regional Cooperation to Address Irregular Migration in Morocco and the Mediterranean”, taking place on October 17th, 2024, at the International University of Rabat (UIR) in Rabat, Morocco.
This panel will analyze the effectiveness of current migration policies in Morocco and the broader Mediterranean region, with a focus on the importance of cooperation and development. It will explore how Morocco’s policies align with international frameworks and the role of regional cooperation in address irregular migration. The discussion will identify gaps in current approaches and propose new strategies to enhance collaboration between Morocco and other Mediterranean countries, emphasizing sustainable development as a key factor in managing migration flows.
