José Reis is a specialist in urban and regional policy and strategy with a background in academia, consultancy and city government. He is based between London and Porto where he collaborates with a number of organisations. He is a Senior Strategic Advisor at Associação Biopolis in Portugal, where he leads new projects in the intersection of academic research, business and the Civil Society, and a Science Diplomacy and Policy Advisor at PARSUK (Portugueses Association of Researchers and Students in the UK), in London. José previously worked at the Greater London Authority and at London and Partners, where he contributed to developing the Mayor of London’s approach to economic strategy, investment attraction, COVID-19 recovery and urban resilience. Before joining the GLA, José worked as a Senior Consultant at Metro Dynamics where he developed local economic development strategies for several UK cities and regions. He has previously worked as an academic researcher and lecturer in the universities of Porto and Cambridge. He is trained as a Civil Engineer and Urban Planner (University of Porto) and completed a PhD in Land Economy at the University of Cambridge in 2015.
