Daniel Buchbinder is the Founder and CEO of Alterna, a social innovation platform triggering social and environmental change in Latin America. Since Alterna´s conception Daniel has leaded the cultivation of +5,500 entrepreneurs and impact driven (micro, small and medium sized) companies in Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. He leads a fantastic team that share his passion and drive to cultivate change from the ground-up. Since 2018 Alterna is an active impact investor solving the “missing middle” with its financing compalnies Devela and Acceso as well as closing access to markets gaps through LUUM, the company he co-founded in 2017. Daniel is an Ashoka Fellow since 2016 and has received recognitions from organizations such as Skoll and BMW foundation. He is part of the steering committee for the Mexico and Central American Chapter of ANDE and belongs to a range of boards in companies and is a founding member of the Central American Impact Investment Platform (PIIC), part of the GSG. Daniel holds a BA in Business Administration (ITAM)and MSc´s in Environmental Technology and Business (Imperial College) and Environmental Geography (UNAM). Before founding Alterna, Daniel worked for L´Oreal as a marketing executive both in Mexico and in Spain.
