What does the World Economic Outlook mean for Morocco and the MENA Region? (FR)
The Policy Center for the New South (PCNS), in partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will host a webinar “What does the World Economic Outlook mean for Morocco and the MENA Region?” scheduled to take place on Monday, April 19th, 2021 at 11am Washington time/ 3pm Rabat time. Global prospects remain highly uncertain one year into the pandemic. New virus mutations and the accumulating human toll raise concerns, even as growing vaccine coverage lifts sentiment. Economic recoveries are diverging across countries and sectors, reflecting variation in pandemic-induced disruptions and the extent of policy support. The outlook depends not just on the outcome of the battle between the virus and vaccines—it also hinges on how effectively economic policies deployed under high uncertainty can limit lasting damage from this unprecedented crisis. 2021 will be the year of policies that continue saving lives and livelihoods and promote recovery, while balancing the need for debt sustainability and financial resilience. At the same time, policymakers must not lose sight of the transformational challenges to build forward better and accelerate the creation of more inclusive, resilient, sustainable, and green economies. Regional and international cooperation will be key complements to strong domestic policies. Featuring experts from both the IMF and the PCNS, the discussions will focus on the findings of the World Economic Outlook (WEO)’ Chapter one on Global conjuncture as well as the April 2021 Regional Economic Outlook (REOMCD). This webinar will take place in English and will be broadcasted live via our YouTube channel and Facebook page, with live coverage on Twitter. Simultaneous interpretation in French will also be available.
