AFRICAFÉ : Sara Hasnaa Mokaddem décrypte l'actualité de la CAE

Dans cet épisode, la responsable de notre unité de Veille et d'Analyse Stratégique, Sara Hasnaa Mokaddem, décrypte les enjeux et défis de la Communauté d'Afrique de l'Est (CAE), une organisation régionale intergouvernementale qui regroupe 6 pays de l’Afrique de l’Est (Burundi, Kenya, Soudan du Sud, Ouganda, Rwanda, Tanzanie) et compte plus de 177 millions de citoyens sur 2,5 millions de km². Initialement fondée le 1er décembre 1967, elle a été dissoute en 1977 avant d'être recréée le 7 juillet 2000. Avec un produit intérieur brut combiné de 193 milliards de dollars américains, cette institution revêt une importance stratégique et géopolitique pour le continent Africain. De plus, elle représente un précurseur potentiel de l'établissement d'une Fédération d'Afrique de l'Est.

Manager - Strategic Monitoring & Analysis Unit

Sara Mokaddem is the Manager of the Strategic Monitoring & Analysis Unit at the Policy Center for the New South. Prior to that, she has worked as a research analyst in charge of specific due-diligence reporting and risk analysis on private placements for a London-based investment fund focused on the mining and energy sectors. She has also worked with firms and individuals on attaining FCA authorization and regulation in the United Kingdom. Her previous professional experience includes a position as a visiting researcher at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in 2011 and 2012 where she has produced research on the post-revolutionary situation in Tunisia and Libya and on the security of the Sahel. Youssef Tobi

International Relations Specialist

Tobi Youssef has joined the Policy Center for the New South in 2017. He is currently working on Politics and Governance in the Maghreb Region; his areas of expertise are geopolitics, political risk and nation building. Youssef Tobi obtained a Master Degree at Sciences Po Lyon where he wrote two thesis on “ the role of Moroccan Bank in Africa, a non-state actor in service of the Diplomacy” and the“ Chasm between the mediatic and associative representation of refugees : a case study”. Prior to working at the Think tank, Tobi Youssef participated in a Social Entrepreneurship Project in Beirut, Lebanon and conducted an internship in a NGO based in Marseille where he assisted refugees and helped raise funds. ...
