Les Mardis du PCNS 22/09/2020 :

The CNN report broadcasted on November 14th on a sale of African migrants as slaves in Lybia has caused a wave of shock and protest. More than ever, the African migration, often perceived as a scourge, is on the agenda. The Atlantic Dialogues will discuss it in another way. Why ? Because the cold analysis of facts and figures shows that the African clandestine migration to Europe, far from an invasion, may well be an opportunity...  « African Migration : A Cause for Panic ? » With ...

Location decisions of firms and workers shape the spatial distribution of economic activity between and within cities. On one hand, the interaction between cities is widely investigated in the literature of regional and urban economics, which tries to assess the extent to which urban scale affects the local concentration of different skills, sectors, etc., apart from defining each city's role in the regional system. On the other hand, within-city dynamics and internal heterogeneity ...

Dual transitions are under way in Cuba. The island is slowly opening its economy, and a new crop of younger political leaders, potentially more open to democratic norms, waits in the wings. A third transition, the rise of digital access, is also in an early stage. But it is this third transition that arguably has the most momentum and could significantly accelerate the first two. Cuba’s digital transition has largely been bottom up. The citizenry’s curiosity and ingenuity have push ...

Thinking creatively the bilateral relationship of Brazil and Morocco is quintessential for enhancing its reach and possibilities. The world is currently facing enormous changes whose outcomes are unpredictable. From a revival in the cold war realist dispute of power between the United States and Russia, the collapse of International Law in relation to Ukraine, Crimea and the South China Sea, BREXIT and the imponderable results that may impact the European Union and to the possible d ...
