Marie-Noelle Nwokolo is with the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) as the Coordinator for the G20 Compact with Africa program, established in 2017 under the German G20 Presidency to promote private investment in Africa by increasing its attractiveness through improvements in the macro, business, and financing frameworks. In this role, she helps provide independent reviews of the countries’ progress, provides policy research and expert advice, and facilitates peer-learning opportunities in priority areas for member countries. Before that, she was the Senior Researcher at the Johannesburg-based Brenthurst Foundation. Her research focuses on the political economy of African development, i.e. how social, political and economic forces interact to drive and/or hinder stability and growth. Her research has influenced policy decisions in seven African nations, advising heads of state on economic development, including very recently in Malawi, Zambia, Zanzibar, Lesotho, Ghana, and Somaliland, among others. Nwokolo holds degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Dickinson College.
