Jeffrey Gelman is currently a senior advisor at the U.S. Department of State working on policy issues for the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.
Previously, he worked at the White House National Security Council from 2010 to 2014 as a special assistant in the Nonproliferation Directorate. Prior to joining government, he worked as a research assistant in the Foreign Policy Studies program at the Brookings Institution from 2005 to 2009. During the 2008 presidential elections, he worked on arms control and non-proliferation issues for the Obama campaign. Gelman holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a master’s degree in security policy studies from George Washington University.
