Gian Clavadetscher is currently working as an external consultant at the Victims Participation and Reparations Section of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Being awarded the Mercator Fellow on International Affairs he explores avenues for a more victim-centered approach to global criminal justice. Prior to this, Gian supported the Office of the Prosecutor at the UN Special Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the Legal Department of the Swiss Embassy to the USA, focusing on various international law issues including the effects of sanctions on humanitarian aid and the responsibility to protect. Gian completed his LL.M. in public international law at Leiden University, where he simultaneously supported the research of the Grotius Centre of International Legal Studies on cyber warfare.
