Fatma Ahmed is currently the Capacity Building Specialist at UNDP Regional Program for Africa, based in Addis Ababa where she implements flagship projects on conflict prevention, peacebuilding, political transitions, climate security and other emerging development challenges and priorities with the African Union and regional institutions. Prior to joining UNDP, she worked across Africa, Middle East, and Southeast Asia, implementing regional projects for development partners. Most notably, she acted as the Deputy Chief of Party during the establishment and setting up of the IGAD Center of Excellence in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism in the Horn and East Africa region. In addition to her Master’s degree in Human Rights and Democratisation, Fatma is researching the impact of emerging technological trends such as cryptocurrency, blockchain and AI on Africa’s development.
